This may include students, business people, tourists and any adults who want to learn the basics of Russian to communicate in everyday life, to travel in Russia or CIS countries, and to understand Russian culture and traditions.
The Russian language course covers basic conversational skills and grammar. Students will learn to introduce themselves and others, exchange greetings and farewells, and ask and answer questions about personal information. Additional topics include family, friends, appearance, personality, jobs, places of work and study. Students will build vocabulary for places in the city, asking for and giving directions. Food vocabulary and how to order at a cafe or restaurant is covered. Shopping dialogues and vocabulary for shops, goods, and transactions will be practiced. Transport, travel, and buying tickets is included. Key grammar focuses on Russian gender and cases and basic sentence structure. Students will practice dialogues, describe photos, answer questions about themselves, listen to recordings, read texts, and write. Activities include roleplays, discussions in Russian, and interactive listening exercises. By the end of the course, students will have a foundation in conversational Russian and grammar to build on through further study. This introductory Russian course is designed specifically for international students who need to navigate daily interactions during their time in Russia. Along with conversational Russian and grammar lessons, the course will provide vital vocabulary and skills for common situations like using public transportation, ordering food, shopping, and more. Students will gain not only language abilities but cultural knowledge for successfully living abroad.
